This collection contains material from Henry William Darling, businessman and treasurer of General Electric from 1894 until his retirement in 1924. It consists of 38 boxes containging numerous letters, most of which is personal correspondence. The letters range in years from 1891 to 1935, and deal with a great number of subjects. There is correspondence between family members in which family business, births, deaths, and other related topics are discussed. Several letters concern some of the many businesses that Darling involved himself with during his career. There is also a box of biographical material and photographs, as well as two boxes of financial journals from 1855 to 1912, and three boxes of diaries from 1889 to 1937.

Henry W. Darling was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 27, 1847. In 1862 he moved to Canada with his parents and lived there until 1891. Mr. Darling married Helen Ritchie, and had eight children : Jessie (married to Arthur W. Henshaw), Elsie (married to Robert F. Coggeshall), Louise (married to Edward O.
